Las Positas Tournament Scores

Nice weather out in Livermore this day.  Just enough cloud cover to keep from getting too hot or too windy. Some solid play considering the amount of rain we’ve endured this winter and the relative rust in our swings.

A very nice day for a Tournament.  Good to see old faces and meet some new ones.

And so without further ado, the winners from the Nor Cal Golf Club stroke play event at Las Positas on Saturday April 23rd.

Closest to the Pin:

Scott McReynolds

Anthony Cannino

Larry Di Girolamo

Chris Heidenreich

Winner of the Ben Hogan (1st) Flight was Anthony Cannino with a net 67.  Anthony was our big money man capturing one of our closest to the pin prizes as well. Stan Gallo took 2nd posting a solid net par 72. A very consistent swing most of the round by Stan but Anthony was just tough to beat this day.

Winner of the Sam Snead (2nd) Flight was Dan Kieninger with a net 68 resulting from a strong finish on the back nine beginning by almost holing out his approach shot on 15 leaving a 2 inch tap in birdie.  Two pars ensued and he kept his composure for a bogey on 18 to bring it home. Cisco Lopez took 2nd place in the Snead flight also shooting under par posting a net 70.

Honorable mention to Dale Shull, one of five players to shoot par or better posting a net 72  Out of the money for the day with the low scores posted by others but solid play that is sure to pay off in the future.

Deja Vu all over again

I signed up for an NCGA regional qualifier and was scheduled to complete at Shoreline Golf Links on Thursday March 24th. Weather forecast called for storms, but the NCGA insisted we try and get it in.

We tied off at 10:30 but before I could get my second shot off they called the tournament and have rescheduled for Thursday March 31st. Was pretty obvious to most of us that conditions were unplayable. One guy in my group went to take his second shot and left his umbrella on his cart. The wind blew the umbrella wide open and the cart took off as if part of some crazy golf cart race.

So twice in one week I was scheduled for a golf tournament at Shoreline that was canceled, but was forced to come down to the course anyway.

Who is this freakin’ Doppler guy anyway?

Well at 7:30 AM I contacted the Golf Course and according to their Doppler it was all clear and no rain until after dark.

Got there at 8:30 and by 9 AM we called the tournament because the rain and wind was coming down. Doppler now says it’s a huge belt of rain coming through.

Apologies for dragging everyone out there. Set up the 7:30 call just to make sure before we all went out, but that the way it goes. Sure glad we didn’t start and have the weather go bad on us.

Game on Today! Weather looks good.

All clear for the tournament today.

I’ll be in the Pro Shop at nine with the pairings sheet ready to answer any questions.
